Went to the area around our wedding venue to meet up with my parents to show them around.  My parents wanted to check it out ahead of time to make sure they didn’t get lost the day of.  Great preparation!

So it turned out that my Maid of Honour and some friends were planning a bachelorette for me.   It was a fantastic affair.  We started out with typical bachelorette party games, followed by a makeup lesson by an artist whose company we hired to do makeup for the day of the wedding, and then a special tailor-made Amazing Race style game around Toronto.   If you some some girls sitting about Love and Marriage on the corner of the Gladstone Hotel on Queen, or salsa dancing in the street with strangers in Little Italy, that might have been us!

We ended the night settled in to watch ‘Shaun of the Dead’ with McLovin keeping an eye on us, but didn’t make it all the way through.  You ladies rock!

Last Friday, we helped plan a surprise 40th birthday party for one of our friends.  And to my surprise, she was actually surprised when she got there!  I have to say, it was so wonderful to see how pleased she was.  There were so many emails flying back and forth over the past month or so that I thought for sure someone would have accidentally spilled the beans.  What a fantastic, lovely surprise.

Eeek!  I posted too quickly!

I got to go to dinner with my cousin and cousin-in-law.  We opted for Indian, which, as you may or may not remember, is one of our favourite foods.

We came out of a meeting and saw this moose outside in front of the building.  The flash and spotlights don’t help with the sign on the moose, but it says “Welcome to Toronto”.

Growing up, Snoopy was one of my all time favourite characters.  He just seemed so cool.  Not like that kid Charlie Brown.  Charlie Brown seemed to be pushed over by life.

We got to eat at one of our favourite sushi restaurants the day before they closed for renovations.  Good timing!  We came across this sode and were intrigued that someone had used lemongrass as a main flavouring for a drink.

We have some really artsy friends.  We went to breakfast/brunch on Saturday, and after we ate, were presented with the menu again, turned to the beer section.  It’s noon!  Why would I want beer, I thought to myself.  It turns out, our friends had slightly modified the menu and added their own choice.  Check it out.

Today’s picture is a double feature.  I was fortunate enough to see the cherry blossoms in high park in full bloom before they started to drop, so I thought that I’d share some.

I’ve been trying to go for a walk every day after work in an attempt to get some exercise daily.  It’s been unusually windy, but it’s gotten better the last day or two.  So good that the trees and flowers weren’t constantly blowing!

Wedding details are coming together.  I wrote earlier regarding the whole cake topper decision, and it finally came in the mail!  I’m not going to post pictures of the actual topper yet, but here’s a pic of the box with the logo of the Etsy artist who made it.  LOVE it!  If you want to look it up, ours is a wooden topper with our names carved out, separated by a heart.

I’ve been working on my next DIY project.  Paper pomanders.  Still not decided if they’re good enough yet.  Since they’re just going into vases, perhaps it will work…

I’m a nail biter ( I know! It’s gross!)  So the only way I know that I can grow out my nails is to have nail polish put on them, because who wants to chew nail polish?

We had today off work, as it was Good Friday, and a bunch of us headed over to ‘Snakes and Lattes’ for company and boardgames.  We ended up spending 6 hours there.  The new games that we tried out were ‘Power Grid: The First Spark’, ‘Pandemic’, ‘Cards Against Humanity’, and ‘7 Wonders’.  I think ‘Pandemic was my favourite of the lot.

But here’s a picture of ‘The First Spark’.  #66:

We met with some of our vendors to try and nail down some of the details of our wedding.  It turned out to be a great and useful session.  The meeting took place at our venue, on a beautiful, sunny day.

It’s almost here…

It’s been picking up over the last little while, as we are in the last leg of wedding planning.  I’m just itching to post pictures of my shoes and caketopper, and the like, but have convinced myself to practice restraint, as I want those guests who read this blog on occasion to see everything first at the wedding.

So I suppose as a pre-warning, when I get back from our HMoon, you’ll see recaps from our big day.

On the whole, I’m still pretty calm.  But lately when I run through the list in my head of things that need to be finalized, and my first reaction is mild panic.

I have to say, though, I am quite excited about some of the things that we opted for, like the venue choice, the decision to make our own invitations, and the cake topper.  OMG the caketopper.  I think I spent waaaay to much time thinking about it and drooling over them, but in the end, I deemed my first choice to be too expensive for what it is.  And really, even though I was squee-ing over it like a little girl, it would have not meant too much to the Dude.  Check them out, I wanted the owls:

So cute!!!

But I opted for a simpler topper instead.  It just came in the mail yesterday, and I love it.  It doesn’t make me squee, but I love it just the same =))

I really glad that I’m at a point where the end is in sight.  I always knew that it would be difficult to focus for many months on something that happens only for a few hours, but the feeling that we can finally enjoy the fruits of our labour is great.  And I just got the last of the RSVPs, so it looks like we’ve got a final list. =)

It was a beautiful day for a walk.  I decided to take the path through the cherry blossoms, and I guess because it has been so unseasonably warm, it looks like the flowers are starting to bloom already.

This path is jam packed with people when the trees are blossoming.
