I love going to the grocery store T&T.  Mostly because of the food there, but also because I love looking at the shape of the cakes.  Brilliant.

Sorry for the odd angle, but this is the new litter box that we had gotten for Lily.  It’s one that you roll, and all the clumps gather into a slot, to make cleaning easier.  We had decided to move it from our upstairs bathroom to the furnace room, and hoped that she wouldn’t get ticked off now that she had to go all the way downstairs to use the loo.  So far, so good.

I imagine that this is what it must be like as a new parent, always taking pictures of your kids.  Here’s another one of Lily.  I was working from home that day, and Lily decided that she wanted to keep me company and have a snooze at the same time.  Love it.

It had been awhile since we had seen the cat from the card shop.  So you can imagine our surprise to see that she had gotten so huge!  We also finally found out her name:  Meow-Meow.  She has Chinese owners, so essentially, they named her “Cat”.

There’s this really bizarre urge of Lily the Kitten’s, where she can’t seem to allow the mouse to sit on top of her scratching post like this.  If she see’s this, she will drop whatever she’s doing and paw it off.

So I’m at the Babies ‘R Us looking through a registry for my friend.  OMG there’s so much stuff you need for babies!  Diapers and toys and cribs and bags and washclothes and wraps…so much.  But I have to admit, I actually enjoyed the experience.  Buying for a baby is infinitely easier than buying for their adult counterparts.  Because babies can’t express disappoint that they got the blue bib over the green one.  It’s a win-win situation.

I narrowly snagged this onesie for the new human-to-be, but thought better of it.

So there was a “thank-you party” gathering and the theme of the food was Korean.  I have to say, I don’t get to eat Korean food too often, but man is it good.  We made these pancake-like octopus ball things, and our hostess with the mostest made some kimchi udon.  SO GOOD.  I confess to being a bit of a meatatarin, but I could have had this vegetarian dish many times over.

We had an afternoon of fun at a work event, at a nearby bowling alley.  I have to say, I’m terrible at bowling.  I get the odd spare, but most of the time, it’s either into the left gutter, or into the right.

Those balls are heavy!

There’s a place in Toronto called Real Sports bar, which is exactly what it sounds like, a sports bar.   It’s great if you’re a sport lover, there are soooo many TVs in there, and a mix over booths and tables, and lots of bar space.  The only thing is that you can’t really get a table when a big game is on, except if you make reservation in advance.  We had been turned away before.  So for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup finals between the New Jersey Devils and the LA Kings, I made a reservation for 4.  We went for 2 reasons, the first is because for the last couple of years, we’ve watched at least 1 Cup final with a friend of mine from high school (who also happens to be a super Devils fan), and the second is that we wanted to see what the fuss was about with the bar.  It’s loud, but a great place to watch.

There is one giant screen, and lots of small and medium sized screens…and a ticker.  Crazy.

We were heading downtown to help a friend of ours pack.  On our way there, we decided to stop for a bite to eat at Grilled Cheese, in Kensington Market, and then a cup of coffee.  Across from the coffee shop was this piece of graffiti.  Graffiti artists are so talented.

While in Vietnam, we had a lot of coconut water, straight from young coconuts.  Since having fresh, young coconuts is not really an option here, I decided to get a can of coconut water and see if it’s similar.

Hello, Kitty!

So on Tuesday, the Dude and I were only planning on heading to the pet store where the kitten we wanted to adopt was being fostered, to meet her and pick up some cat essentials.  You know, litter box, some toys, a scratching post… We came home with the cat.  She’s so tiny!  And so cute!

I was convinced later that night that the kitten hated me, because I had the unlucky task of driving her home in her new carrier.  But she seemed curious and cuddling after sniffing out her new digs.  We live in one of those tall skinning townhouses with 3 floors, so we just keep her on the top floor for now.  I didn’t want her roaming around the house all at once, as I thought it would be too overwhelming.  But she’s going around like she owns the place now =)

One of our concerns about getting a solo kitten was that the Dude and I are both at work during the day.  But yesterday when I got home, she just seemed very pleased to me, and there were no surprises waiting.  I’m hoping this trend continues. I have to admit though, originally, I wanted to just keep her in the one room for a few days , to acclimate, but last night, I decided to let her roam around our office…then the second floor…then the main floor.  I have to say, she was a bit timid at first, but prowled like a champ after.  Can you tell that I’m so proud of our girl? I only let her roam for about 45 minutes though.  One, because I didn’t know when she would have to use the bathroom next, and it was 3 stories up, and two, I wanted to see how she navigated the stairs going back up.  She’s just small enough now that going from step to step is a bit of an effort, so I think we’ll keep her house-roaming to shorter stints for now. She’s so cute!

Went to a Trivia Night in support of Cycle for Sight.  I always find them lots of fun, especially since my friends and I seem to work in completely different fields with many different hobbies.  A great way to learn odd pieces of info, that’s for sure!

I believe the Toronto leg of the Cycle for Sight is coming soon…just sayin’!
