Went by Maple Leaf Gardens on my way to trivia.  I thought that it was fitting, since this is the first time in 9 years that the Toronto Maples Leafs made it to the playoffs.

Poor Lily.  She got so tired playing with her toys, that she decided to lay down to drink her water.

After a fun-filled day catching up with old friends, we settled down with a deep fried Mars bar.  Were they trying to give us the illusion that we were being healthy by including a few pieces of fruit?

I have a feeling that the thimble sitting on the pile of buttons is not proportioned the same way as the CN Tower…or is it?

Sorry for being MIA, all.  We’ve started a new renovation project here at home, and have been plugging away every day since the long weekend (Happy belated Victoria Day!).  Some of the Pic of the Days will show our progress, and I am happy to say that we are finally at a stage where we can see the end of the light.

Between that and researching for our California trip, things have been hectic.

Thanks for your patience!

Here’s just java-nating (def. the act of consuming java) before beginning work for the day:

The day after the first Toronto Maple Leafs playoff game in 9 years, and Lily the Cat is totally unconcerned.  That’s just disrespectful.  (They lost Game 1 to the Bruins, by the way).

On a different note, who do you think would win in a cage fight between Carlton the Bear and Blades the Bruin?

It’s been a long time since I had done brain teasers, and man, am I rusty!  I got some puzzles and mind games for my birthday, and it looks like I am really out of practice.

A little celebratory dinner after getting the keys to our second rental property.  One of these days, I’ll have to really sit down and blog about our experiences, but for now, all we have is a photo of the awesome food from Aroma Cafe.

Time to start planning accommodations and activities.  San Francisco seemed to be the easiest for me, since I did a lot of research before I went there about 6-7 years.  Goodness, was it really that long ago?

Back to the scene of the crime, as it were =)  One year ago today, the Dude and I got married at this art gallery in the Distillery District.  Since it was my responsibility to plan what to do for our first anniversary, I thought that it’d be nice to go back to where it began (marriage-wise, anyways)

Caught this awesome wall of graffiti on my way home from the yarn store.  I often wonder how long it takes people to do this stuff, I mean, I see it all the time, but I never see people actually doing it, you know?

So after much hemming and hawing, and trying to get the Dude to tell me his preference on a vacation spot (he had none), I’ve decided on the California coast. I suppose in many ways, being given the task to plan a vacation from beginning to end, however I wanted to, was easier that trying to plan with someone who said that they didn’t have an opinion, but actually did. So I took his blessing to go nuts with what I wanted at face value, and cracked out the Interwebs.

First up: A route.

The sole purpose of going back to California was to drive down the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH or Highway 1).  I’d heard that this was a beautiful piece of road that went along the Pacific Ocean, and thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to rent a car and see it.  But as much as I loved nature, I couldn’t picture us spending 2 weeks on it.  So I had to plot out other places to see.  So we are starting in San Francisco.  I love San Fran.  It’s one of my favourite places, and I’ve already booked our accommodations there through airbnb.  This is our first time using it, so wish us luck!  From there, we are going to go to Carmel/Monterey (Pebble Beeeeach! And no, we are not golfing or staying there $$$$), and then through Big Sur.  This should be really exciting with the winding roads and steep cliffs.  And then we’ll go through Cambria and SLO, and perhaps even through Santa Barbara, before settling into LA.  We’ve already got a list of recommendations of what to see there, but the problem I’m having right now is where to stay.  It’s soooo spreadout!  And kind of expensive depending on how close to “LA” you actually want to be.  :sigh:  So once we leave LA, we’re going to head down to San Diego for a few days, and then fly home from there.

So I think I’ve got a lot of the path covered.  The next part is trying to book us into hotels/BnBs/inns/whatevers without breaking the bank.

Back to the Interwebs for more research!
