You know what the funny thing was when I told people that we had gone to the San Diego zoo?  Everyone’s first question: “Is it really a world-class zoo?”  Errrrr…and to be honest, I don’t know.  What does it mean to be world-class?  The number of animals?  If that’s the case, then yes.  But having gone to the Toronto Zoo a few times in my life, there really wasn’t anything I hadn’t seen before.

To be fair though, it is a nice day out, and it’s laid out in a very clever manner.  My favourites were the big cats, ie. cheetahs, etc.

We stayed at Hotel Indigo in San Diego, which I really liked.  It was close to the action (but not too close), and offered a nice view of Petco Park.  We couldn’t watch the game from here, of course, but it’s a nice view.

I had unwisely chosen a day to visit Griffith Observatory when it was closed   Good thing our hearts weren’t set on it, so we just enjoyed the views and then went shopping =)

We spent a good part of one day at the Getty Center.  It’s really nice, and free! (although they charge for parking).  It also offers a great view of the city.

We stopped at what was essentially a seafood shack for some lunch before heading into LA.  Man, it was busy!  And the view getting there was really nice.

Once we got on the Pacific Coast Highway heading south, the scenery just opened up.  Here, we were hemmed in by cloud-shrouded mountains on the left, and the Pacific Ocean on the right.  Stunning.

I was starting to catch up…-ish, but because of the deluge from yesterday (we’re in Toronto), we’ve had no power at home for almost 24 hours, and the end is not in sight yet, so I’ve hear.  (Sorry for the run-on sentence!).  Hopefully it comes back soon!

We were greeted in our hotel room in Monterey by these two.  So cute!  And if we were actually staying there for a few days, I’d totally visit the aquarium.

So I assume that spring cleaning implies that the cleaning should be done in the spring, but being the reliable and timely creature that I am (ha!!)  I just started on Monday.  Man, do I have a lot of crap!

To be fair, it’s not as much as it used to be, and since moving in the Dude, I’ve pared down.  But I still have a lot of crap.

So I’m going through it again.  Mostly because I’ve come to realize that I should be doing this at least once every 2 years (since I don’t acquire things at the rate that I used to), and that purging really helps mentally as well.

So I’m trying to cut down from 11 large bins, to 8.  Wish me luck!

Since we had gone to the Ferry Market for breakfast, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t take advantage of the view, would it?  I believe this one is the San Francisco-Oakland Bay bridge.

One of our connections on the way to San Francisco was Las Vegas.  I had forgotten how you could gamble all the way up to the departure of your flight.  Now that’s dedication to taking your money!
