Got to work from home today, and went out at lunch to grab a latte from Starbucks.  Is it too much to ask to have the Pumpkin Spice latte year round?!?!  Ugh.

I ordered some fresh rolls for lunch (yum!), and headed back home.  Brrr…it’s so cold!  The weekend was so warm, and it lulled me into a false sense of security.

Thought this was kind of neat.  I knew that Starbucks had a song for pick of the week, but it looks like they had expanded to apps too.

Went downtown today to meet up with the Dude for ramen.  Tried out a new place called ‘Kinton’.  The broth is really good, but I think I still prefer ‘Kenzo’.  Would definitely go back though.

While I waited, I wandered around the Eaton Centre area for a bit, and strolled past Yonge & Dundas square.  The lights and signs always remind me of a mini-Times Square.

I’ve been having a bout of bad luck with cell phones this year.  It started on our honeymoon when we forgot to charge our camera battery one night, and we only found out when we got to the royal tombs.  So we used my iPhone 4 camera, which actually worked really well.

Fast forward to the flight home, and somewhere between Beijing airport and Toronto’s Pearson airport, it decided to pooch itself.  Nooooooooo!

I have to get those photos back!  It was our honeymoooooon!  I’m pretty sure I wailed that like a 4-year-old who just dropped her ice cream cone.  So several hundred dollars later, I had the photos on a CD, and a replacement phone.  Huzzah!

Now my contract with Rogers was up, and I was signing onto a new one.  I plugged in my new sim card, and it doesn’t recognize it.  After spending an hour at the Genius Bar at the Apple store, it turns out that the last Genius that helped me with my pooched phone, typed in the wrong serial number, making it look like I was a Bell customer.  Everything was fine until this time, when I tried to upgrade, and re-locked itself back to Bell.  Sigh.

So after digging through emails from over 2 years ago (a bit of a hoarder, no?), we figured out the mistake, and my phone is back on its way to functioning.  We’ll see.  If I come back tomorrow night with another whiny post, you’ll know it was another fail.  Ugh.

Lesson of the day:  Never delete emails…you never know when it will save you a couple hundred dollars.

I was intrigued by this so-called “Bed Race”.  Sounds exciting and dangerous at the same time.

It’s strange, I very distinctly remember a particular skit on “Sesame Street” from when I was a kid.  There used to be a store of some kind on that street, like a corner store, where some of the characters would go in and chat with the shopkeeper.  In this skit, one of the puppet characters needed something from the store, but got all dejected because the sign on the front door said “Closed”.

“Oh no!  The store is closed!”  He cried.

Just then, the shopkeeper arrived and assured him that she was just opening up, and turned the sign over to “Open”.

“Yay!”

He got whatever he needed, turned around to leave, and then got all dejected again because now that the sign had been turned around to show “Open” to the outside, all he could see was “Closed”.

This is what the sign reminded me of:

Finally getting around to continue reading Game of Thrones.  I do think that it would have been waaay better to have read the books first before seeing the series, but what are you going to do?

We had an afternoon of fun at a work event, at a nearby bowling alley.  I have to say, I’m terrible at bowling.  I get the odd spare, but most of the time, it’s either into the left gutter, or into the right.

Those balls are heavy!

Vietnam was hot and humid.  Really.  The kind where you just walk outside and are immediately covered in sweat.  So basically we worked out a bit of a system.  We’d go out early in the morning (thank you jetlag!) and then go back to the hotel (or a coffeeshop) in the afternoon, and watch TV or nap, and then go out again at night.

The first day we arrived, we decided to go for a walk.  I wonder what the most popular mode of transportation was?

I got to go to dinner with my cousin and cousin-in-law.  We opted for Indian, which, as you may or may not remember, is one of our favourite foods.

We have some really artsy friends.  We went to breakfast/brunch on Saturday, and after we ate, were presented with the menu again, turned to the beer section.  It’s noon!  Why would I want beer, I thought to myself.  It turns out, our friends had slightly modified the menu and added their own choice.  Check it out.

We had fantastic weather yesterday.  It was really the first warm day we had on the weekend, and while we were out for our walk, we saw plenty of people strolling as well.

The park that we were wandering around is called High Park, which has a sizeable lake in it.  Now I know that under normal circumstances (ie. cold weather in March), the paths and grassy areas around the lake can be dangerous to the unsuspecting or uncareful (is that even a word?) passerby.  I understand: Safety first.  But on this sunny day, with the dogs and the kids romping around, the temporary signs that were put up by the city seemed really, really out of place.

I work out in the middle of nowhere (not literally, of course), so I don’t suppose it’s too surprising that there are a group of kittens (now cats-ish) that live in the bushes outside of our building.  Too cute!  I imagine they are all from the same litter, and we’ve seen the three of them come around multiple times.  There’s an orange one, a black one, and a sort of black/brown/grey striped one.  They used to be super shy, but I think the night security guard has taken to leaving food out for them, and the people down bother them, so they don’t run away as often anymore.

The black one wasn’t arround, but I managed to get a pic of the other two:
